In
the circle symbolizing the eternal cycle of life which
regenerates, we find the black “obi”, the belt that
ties up the “ki” as a symbol of safety and certainty;
its colour is black since it is the first step (Dan) in
the stairs of knowledge. Within the circle there is the
rising sun in a field white, the Japan hinomaru, the
origin of the discipline.
The
circle is ringed by cherry tree branches which are
symbol of respect, purity of ideals and happiness,
feelings which those who practise martial disciplines
aspire to.
The
ideograms represent the “Goshin Jutsu”, the
self-defence, for which one trains in order to preserve
the gift of life.

The
A.K.S. GROUP, Associazione Karate Scuola (i.e. Association Karate School)
comes into being out the plan of a few Masters tired of being subjected
to federal obligations which, by now, have exclusively a business
purpose and which have brought to a stage where nothing new, useful or
funny has been learnt for a long time.
Since
the increase of the number of the members is not the aim of the GROUP,
it accurately selects the new ones, who have to be conscious of entering
a group of friends. The Masters founders have various decades of
experience and attendance of all the most rated Italian and European
Masters of Karate and Ju-Jitsu.

Ju Jitsu knew its
period of the greatest diffusion in the feudal Japan, during the age of
the Tokugawa dynasty, in the XVII century. It was practised by
professional soldiers, samurais and in a maybe rougher style, also by
farmers and by the poorest classes,
for a defence purpose. We must not forget that at that time Japan was
run through by gangs of thieves of no scruples, who committed sacks and
made raids in all the country.

Nowadays
a lot of Masters of Martial Arts, who, up to a short time ago, preached
the purity of style, include in their advertising, in block capitals,
Self-Defence in order to attract new members. In most cases it has to do
simply with techniques extrapolated from the activities they practise.
